What is Forest School?

Forest School is an approach to education that maximises the learning and development of the children by learning outdoors. Forest School places your child at the heart of the learning experience. It is lead by a qualified level 3 Forest school lead who works with the nursery practitioners to ensure we provided a holistic environment for the children to explore in. Forest School provides our children the opportunity to explore the world with appropriate risk. The children then learn in the richest classroom we have- the outdoors.

Forest School is the pinnacle of our setting. We strongly believe in the benefits that it has for the children in our care. We provide a stimulating outdoor environment which over time increases the children’s self-belief, confidence, learning capacity, enthusiasm, communication and problem-solving skills and emotional well-being. At Forest School our children are physical active a lot of the time. This might be by climbing trees, den building, sliding down the mud slide, digging for the mountain giant and collecting wood for the fire. This improves their stamina which leads to a healthy lifestyle and healthy emotional wellbeing. Forest school can help build a lifelong relationship with natural spaces and a love for the environment around us.
